House Warmer

You’ll prepare the Ronald McDonald house to make sure guests feel welcome and ensure a clean, comfortable environment for their stay. For a few hours on a weekend, you’ll give tours to help guests feel at home in the space, help in the kitchen, and prepare rooms for guests. You are preparing a house to be home for families traveling to Grand Rapids for their children’s medical and mental health treatment, helping offer respite and refuge during one of the most trying times in their lives.

Is This the Right Fit for Me?

You have an eye for finishing touches that will make guests feel especially welcome and “at home.” You have a warm demeanor that helps people feel comfortable. This role is a nice blend of behind the scenes (making beds, freshening up rooms, etc.) and working with people (giving tours of the space to new families), so you like the idea of both aspects of hospitality. You’re up for a diversity of tasks within one visit.

What Others are Saying

“You know, maybe you had a bad day, but you come to the house and see these children struggling against all odds, and you think ‘wow, they are doing it, in light of such hardship.’ It is a very humbling experience. It has also been a healing experience for me.”
