Exalta Health

You’ll prepare patients by taking their history, vitals, making them feel comfortable, and asses if they’ll need an interpreter for meeting with the doctor. If you sense the patient may also benefit from Exalta’s behavioral health services, you’ll recommend to the doctor that a patient be referred to the on-site social worker and counselor. You may assist behind the scenes with medical records and the pharmacy.

This position is open to certified nurse techs, nurse practitioners, nurse assistants, registered nurses, EMTs, physician assistants, or others who have similar skills and certification. Speaking Spanish is not a requirement but would be a great asset; more than 70 percent of Exalta’s patients speak Spanish as their first language.

There are occasional special clinics offered throughout the year, such as Women’s Physical Day, Free Dental Day, or a diabetic clinic. You wouldn’t be required to be a part of them but are welcome to sign up as your interests and schedule allow.

Exalta Health is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. and 1-5 p.m. You’ll sign up for a half-day or full-day shift that works with your schedule, twice per month.

What to Expect

Submit a brief online application to Exalta, and Rochelle will reach out by phone to schedule an in-person interview. You’ll discuss your availability, what you enjoy doing in a healthcare environment, your experience, and how to make sure this opportunity is a good fit. You’ll sign some paperwork, tour the facility, and Exalta staff and volunteers. Then you’ll get to sit back down with Rochelle to ask any additional questions you have.

If you decide to move forward, you’ll begin to work with the nursing coordinator. There is a three-hour orientation to review Exalta’s procedures and then a more in-depth “behind the scenes” tour. You’ll get to explore the office on a scavenger hunt for supplies to put your new knowledge to work and get set up in Exalta’s database.
